This policy explains what data we collect when you use storyflyers.com, why we collect it, who has access, and what your rights are. We wrote it in plain language because nobody actually reads the legalese version.
1. Who collects your data
Story Flyers (based in Atlanta, GA) is the data controller for everything you submit through storyflyers.com. For privacy questions, contact info@storyflyers.com.
2. What we collect
When you place an order
- Name · so we know who we're working with
- Email address · for order communication, invoice delivery, and portal account setup
- Phone number · for urgent updates only (we don't text marketing)
- Instagram handle (optional) · helps us understand your brand voice and visual references
- Event details · event name, date, venue, city · so we can build the flyer correctly
- Style notes · the brief you write for our designer
- Reference flyer selections · which portfolio pieces you picked as style inspiration
- Promo code (if used) · to apply the right pricing
When you use the designer portal
- Portal account credentials · email + password hash (we never store plaintext passwords)
- Project files and revisions · designs, motion files, and messages you exchange with the studio
- Approval timestamps · which version of each deliverable you signed off on, and when
What we don't collect
- Card details · payments are processed by Square. We never see your card number, CVV, or billing address. Square handles all of that under their own privacy policy.
- Location tracking · we don't run GPS or location-based services
- Demographic profiling · we don't infer or store assumptions about your age, gender, race, or other demographic data
- Cross-site tracking pixels · we don't run Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, or third-party ad trackers as of the date above
3. How we use your data
We use the data you provide for these specific purposes:
- Fulfilling your order · designing your flyer, sending invoices, coordinating revisions
- Sending you the work · delivery links, final files, motion exports
- Operating your portal account · authentication, project history, approvals
- Responding to support requests · when you email us about an order
- Improving our services · aggregated, anonymized insights about which tiers and add-ons are most popular
We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with data brokers. Full stop.
4. Who has access
Inside the studio
Order data is accessible to Story Flyers staff (designers, motion artists, and admins) who need it to fulfill your order. We use role-based access in the portal so designers only see the projects they're assigned to.
Service providers we rely on
We share specific data with these providers to operate the business:
- Square · processes payments. Receives: name, email, billing email, order total. Square's privacy policy.
- Resend · sends transactional email (order confirmations, portal invites, delivery links). Receives: email address + email content. Resend's privacy policy.
- GoDaddy · hosts the website + email infrastructure. Receives: data passing through the website servers. GoDaddy's privacy policy.
Legal disclosures
We will only disclose your data in response to a valid legal request (subpoena, court order, or legally binding government request). If we receive such a request and we're not legally prohibited from telling you, we will notify you.
5. How long we keep it
- Order records · 7 years (for tax + accounting purposes)
- Portal accounts · until you request deletion, or 3 years after your last project (whichever comes first)
- Email communication · 3 years from the date sent
- Project files · stored in your portal indefinitely until account deletion, then archived for 90 days before permanent removal
6. Your rights
You can email info@storyflyers.com at any time to:
- Access a copy of everything we have on you
- Correct any data that's wrong
- Delete your portal account and personal data (note: we may need to retain order records for tax purposes)
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to specific uses (though most of our uses are required to fulfill your order)
We respond to data requests within 30 days. There's no fee for reasonable requests.
7. Cookies
The public site uses minimal cookies · only the ones required for the buy modal disclaimer state (so you don't see the same modal twice in one session) and standard browser session cookies.
The designer portal uses a session cookie for authentication. This is essential for the portal to work · you can't be logged in without it.
We don't use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies as of the date above. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated and we'll prompt you for consent.
8. Children
Story Flyers services are intended for adults (18+) running events, businesses, or brand promotions. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe we've collected data from a minor, email us and we'll delete it.
9. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data:
- HTTPS encryption across the entire site (storyflyers.com and the portal)
- Passwords stored as hashes, never in plaintext
- Role-based access in the portal so staff only see projects they need to
- Database backups encrypted in transit and at rest
- Monthly backup audits via automated health checks
That said, no system is 100% secure. If we ever experience a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you within 72 hours of discovering it.
10. International users
Story Flyers operates out of Georgia, USA. If you place an order from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By placing an order, you consent to this transfer.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated via email to portal account holders.
